Why I Love Hiking in White’s Woods Nature Center

I live in N9Th St in county Indiana, Pennsylvania. very close to the White’s Woods hiking trails, my favorite place for walking. My entire childhood I spent there, a mile away from my house.

There I used to find peace when wanted to relish my anger, when I didn’t feel comfortable, or just wanted fresh air. There you can enjoy this 6.5-km loop trail. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 hour 47 min to complete.

This is a popular trail for birding, cross-country skiing, and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of the day. The best times to visit this trail are February through October. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.

This trail is rated intermediate/difficult and is distinguished by its varying grades, including a maximum incline of 12 degrees. It’s popular for its challenging but rewarding terrain. It was a great place to learn the ski program that was offered for at least a few years, but it’s closed now (for skiing). It was a lot of fun, even though it was really small.

8. Step

The top of Step begins as an easy singletrack descent. About halfway down, the trail corridor is filled with a succession of man-made steps to take you back down to the parking lot. Near the bottom of Step, there are many off-shoots that split off the trail. All lead to the parking area or nearby road, but try and stay on the trail as best you can.
